UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2022
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 21st Sep 2022
I've run through these notes in September 2022. Not much to change apart from prices.
UPDATE SUMMER 2021
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 20th Sep 2021
I reviewed and updated these notes in September 2021. At the moment the Bristol Docks water taxi is not running any scheduled boats up and down the harbour due to Covid. All the links have been updated as have prices. I still think that Bristol is a really worthwhile destination for a summer cruise.

UPDATE SPRING 2018

All the links have been updated; prices and charts updated. There are many, many more places where the visitor can tie up, including in the marina.
Update Spring 2016
Written by dononshytalk | 15th Apr 2016
These notes were reviewed by Don in April 2016. Much has changed here over the years since I used to visit in the nineties from Ilfracombe. I've included links to the more interesting pages of the Bristol Docks website (to save you time). The prices have gone up a tad but are still ridiculously low. There are shore power outlets all over the place where there used to be very few. There are pontoons galore but many are taken up by permanent berth holders (some of the live- aboards have to be seen to be believed)
Ship Shape
Written by Outreach Maritime Services Ltd | 25th Aug 2013
Re: History of the harbour and the phrase "ship shape and Bristol fashion" -
This should read "ship shape, Bristol fashion". The extra 'and' is irroneous and often misquoted. As explained in the excellent narrative on the history of the harbour this derives from vessels being able to take the ground at low water. It refers to the flat bottomed design of the bristol craft of the time.
Update 2013
Written by dononshytalk | 15th Feb 2013
Further ammendments were made on the 15th February 2013 as the changes in communications proceedures were not mentioned in the previous update.
Update 2013
Written by dononshytalk | 12th Feb 2013
The notes for Bristol were updated by Don T (a Bristol resident) on the 12th of February 2103. Very little to change apart from the prices and a little bit of local knowledge has been added.
