Update on harbour berthing.
Written by Sulaire | 12th Aug 2021
The harbour no longer has a visitor berth.
Visitng yachts can use the Cromarty Boat Club Visitor Moorings (3) free of charge. These are marked with white buoys and are nearest to harbour.
Moorings are checked annually by the club.

UPDATE SPRING 2021
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 19th May 2021
I reviewed these notes in May 2021. The Nigg Ferry hopes to be operational on 1st June. NB it docks on the Commercial Pier when it is off-duty. It uses the slip to the East of the Harbour itself to ferry vehicles. They've spent money on the Commercial Pier (new green-heart dolphins). Note that the HM is also the Ferry Skipper so is only available on his mobile during its operational hours.
Cromarty Ferry update
Written by Stephen Bamber | 1st May 2021
Cromarty Ferry at Nigg has had some serious maintenance done since your last vistors report. The landing / launch ramp has been resurfaced with fresh concrete. Some remedial work has also been done to the beach / grass area. Hopefully the ferry will resume this season now that travel is allowed. Hope to update this with opening date as and when available.
Friendly HM and room for a deep keel boat with some warning
Written by Mark Harbour Master Sailing Challenge | 23rd Feb 2021
September 2020 Ronald Young (07751244065) is a super friendly volunteer harbour master who is very proud of his harbour. The Harbour Trustees are very supportive and have raised a lot of money to maintain the harbour to a good standard. The harbour is a strange shape - with a metal "bailey" bridge connecting the southern pier to the inside of the central "concrete" quay. This is normally where the Cromarty to Nigg ferry docks when it is operational. Ronald is also the ferry skipper. There can be room for a boat up to 50ft if the ferry does not need access.
NB the far west, outside, of the concrete quay is NOT SAFE to use at all. The other options for visitors up to 1.5m draft are the pontoons in the centre of the smallish inner harbour.
I suggest at Springs you should check carefully and well in advance.

Further into the Cromarty Firth is the commercial harbour of INVERGORDON. Although friendly, it does NOT have facilities for yachts - however it would be a port of refuge. HM is Calum Slater and Marine Manager is Graham Grant 01349 852308 - 24 hour.
UPDATE SPRING 2018
Written by Don Thomson | 9th Apr 2018
Everything is much the same but it is thought that they have a dedicated visitors berth inside on the North wall where the issues have been resolved. The price remains the same as it has been for years.

Update Spring 2016
Written by dononshytalk | 4th Apr 2016
These notes were reviewed by Don in April 2016. Telephone numbers have been updated and prices are still the same. As for the Cromarty/Nigg ferry - there are tenders out for this and they hope that it may run this year. The problem with the North wall being out of commission for its overnight berth is being solved and funds have been obtained for its refurbishment
