Poor value these days
Written by James Haddon | 6th Jun 2022
Things seem to have deteriorated at Southwold. The HM toilet block is now closed and it is a long walk to the campsite. £26 for the night with no facilities and the pub closes at 9pm. A shame, as this used to be a great spot to overnight with good facilities and friendly HM staff. Different now and apparently very little interest in sorting it out

Update May 2022
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 27th May 2022
I reviewed these notes in late May 2022. Not good news I'm afraid; the HM's sowers and toilets are unserviceable at the moment so the only ones available are those at the camp site by the harbour entrance. There is still no shore power on the Waberswick side and the prices have gone up a pound in each length category.

Update Spring 2019
Written by Don Thomson 3 | 11th Apr 2019
These notes were reviewed in April 2019. The showers and toilets remain office hours only though there are plans afoot to remedy this. Still no shore power on the Walberswick side and there is some question of the depths across there so they generally put shallow draft boats there.
UP DATE MARCH 2017
Written by Don Thomson | 27th Mar 2017
These notes were reviewed by Don in March 2017. Having been expensive in 2015 this place has become even more expensive, especially if you have a boat at the lower end of their graduated scale (£3.00 per meter for 7 metre boat).
Expensive and poor facilities
Written by Orwellian | 1st Oct 2016
Two nights cost £44 for a 30' boat. We were moored on the Walberswick side of the river which meant a long walk over the foot bridge to the pub and office. No chance of an electrical hook up (which would have been an additional cost). At low tide we were aground and very healed - difficult to stay in your bunk at that angle! The shower cubicles leaked resulting in water all over the floor and wet clothes. Compared to the cost and facilities available at the Royal Norfolk and Suffolk in Lowestoft (or just about anywhere else) this is extremely poor value. Waveney District Council is not serving the sailing community nor the local business community as we won't be going back.

i have been looking around a lot of places to put a small boat in the water so i can take some one with learning disabilities for a days fishing, and i went to the harbour master in the week and told him what i needed , he gave me great advice and told me to to go and try it and then pay for what service would be suit me,i then came back few days later and seen the other harbour master and he were the same very helpful and not just after your money,im looking forward to my first trip out this weekend if its not windy or rough,

Update 2015
Written by dononshytalk | 5th Mar 2015
These notes were reviewed and updated by Don in March 2015. There have been major changes in all the sections since 2013 . There is an increase in visitor moorings, depths in the entrance have changed for the better, prices have increased and there are new toilets & showers. We hope to supply photographs of the new facilities in due course.

Update 2013
Written by dononshytalk | 5th Apr 2013
Southwold notes were updated by Don T on the 5th April 2013. Little has changed, if anything they may have slightly more water in the entrance than they quoted for 2011. I've included the prices for 2013 and updated some website URLs
